Prevalence of intestinal parasitic infection in patients at Wasit Province, Iraq

Intestinal parasites are the causative agents of number important human infections in developing countries. The present study was aimed to determine prevalence protozoan and helminthes diarrheal patients at Wasit province during period from July, 2022 September, 2022. A total 120 stool samples both gender different age suffering diarrheal, abdominal pain fever. All were examined microscopically by direct method for identification trophozoite cyst protozoa ova helminthes. Only 55 positive intestinal parasite. result showed that percent parasite infection among control (45.83) % 0(0%) respectively. higher recorded with Entameba histolytica 30 (54.5%). males predominance 17(30.9%) than females 13(23.63%). According residence urban areas reported12 (21.81%) rural 18(32.72%) infected histolytica. co-infection Entamoeba Blastocystis hominis 7(12.72%) male 3(5.45%) while female 4(7. 27%). Giardia lamblia 6(10.9%) 4(7.27%) 2(3.63%).
